What is a suitable whisky to give as a gift?!
I am looking for something that i can give to a friend who appreciates fine bourbons, and I know little beyond the standard Jack and Old Grand Dad!. Nothing to outrageous in price, perhaps $50 dollar range, give or take!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Two of my favorite bourbons, are Jefferson's Reserve and Sam Houston!. Both are what are referred to as "small batch bourbons!." Both are distilled by same family owner distillery, McLain & Kyne!. And both are definitely suitable as gifts to someone who knows their bourbons!.
Sam Houston is the tangier of the two, with mild spicy hints, and distinctive rye flavor!. Jefferson's Reserve is sweeter and reminds me of a dessert, something to be sipped slowly and savored!. There is a third whisky produced by this family, Jefferson's, but I have not tried this (yet!)!. Sam Houston runs about $35 for 750ml and Jefferson's Reserve goes for about $60 for 750ml!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you give a bourbon drinker Jack Daniels', George Dickel or Crown Royal you might as well just kick them in the nuts, because these are not bourbons!. My personal favorite (so far) is Woodford Reserve!. It can usually be had in my area for $35-40 for a 750ml bottle (fifth)!. I drink my Woodford on the rocks, it makes for smooth drinking and tastes quite good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would recommend any of the 4 Small Batch Bourbons distributed by Jim Beam Brands!.
They are Bakers, Basil Haydens, Bookers, and Knob Creek!.
