Well, Im Irish and over here everybody drinks at about 15 (A survey said something like 85% of 15 year olds have drank, an 60% do it regularly) But we all know how to take care of ourselves as opposed to americans who, frankly, don't know how to drink!. Why do Americans not realise that 5 cans of beer at about 5% is drunk, not litres of spirits!. We realise that if you throw up than you've had way too much!. If america really wants to reduce road deaths than increase the driving age to 18!. 18 year old should be allowed drink!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You know the reason it was put at 21!? In the 1980s, Candy Lightener started MADD which was in order to stop drinking and driving!. Well, they were like, "no teenager should ever kill anyone drinking and driving," so they lobbied to change the law to make it 21 nationwide, which it wasn't in every state then!. Under Reagan, they had some highway appropriations bills and they said they would cut the funding if the states did not change the law to 21!
Now, MADD seems to be neo-prohibitionist and Ms!. Candy has gone against it saying that her original intent was to stop drunk driving!. It does seem that MADD is about banning alcohol all together!.
Europe doesn't seem to suffer from this prohibitionist mindset!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think the legal drinking age matters!. Kids are able to get alcohol regardless of how old they are!. In Europe the age is 16 to buy alcohol!. The truth is that parents start their children drinking wine at young ages in places such as France!.!.!.they mix the red wine with water!. I think the difference is that Europeans respect alcohol!. I am a fluent French speaker and there is no work in French that means "drunk!." If you ask a teenager in France what drunk is they really can't answer you unless they know English well!. So I'll say that I think children should be introduced to alcohol earlier so that it won't be a huge party when they can buy it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
