a spirit is a DISTILLED beverage contaning ethanol AND NO ADDED SUGARS (starches) - it is produced by means of distilling fermented GRAIN, FRUIT or VEGETABLES - this has at least 35% alcohol by volume

a beer - is an UNDISTILLED beverage - it is created by brewing and fermenting of STARCHES (sugar) - mainly derived from cereals like barley, wheat, corn, rice and it is usually flavored with hops - it is normally between 1 - 15 % alcohol by volume

Liquor is anything that contains alcohol, including beer
that's why the stores that sell beer, wine, vodka, rum, ETC are generally called liquor stores!.

hard liquor is a type of liquor, that is usually more potent in alcohol content!. spirits are a distilled hard liquor, and include vodka, rum, whiskey, and anything else that uses the distillation process!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
