Prozac is an anti-depressant, and alcohol is a depressant!.

Found this comment on a website:
"The problem with mixing alcohol and AD's is the AD's multiply the strength the effect of the alcohol!. So 3 drinks is really 6 drinks!." - trg247

No, I do not think it is okay to be drinking alcohol while on prozac!. Maybe occasionally, if you really have to!.!.!. and a really small amount!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

NO! not ok!.!.Alcohol might be half of the problem that she is on prozac to begin with!.I was taking prozac for three years awhile back, the only thing it does is make you emotionally numb!.It's like pressing you memory erase button for the time you're on it!.Bad stuff!!!.Tell her to enjoy a drink or four, but get off of that crap!.Have a drink and a laugh, that's better medicine!. Give her some more love I can tell that you care!.!.Go from there!. But get her away from that crap!Www@FoodAQ@Com

most people act strange when they drink alcohol!. but yes, prozac may "enhance" the effects!.it is recommended to avoid alcohol when taking an SSRI, but many of us do anyway, in moderation!.
edit: you may want to repost in health/mental health!. you will get more response :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

When you combine alcohol and anti-depressants, the results are unpredictable!. Sometimes the alcohol will seem to affect you more, other times you feel like it isn't affecting you at all!. Those are my doctor's words, not mine, but my own experience matches what he said!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't have more than one drink and don't drink often, just to be safe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
