Answers:
NO NO NO!. never in the refrigerator, it dries them up and then you can not smoke them, they have to be moist to certain level!. it would be best if you can buy a humidor, if you can not just get a box that can be closed, 9shoe box will do, put your cigars in there, and put a shot glass with a wet cotton, keep regulating that the humidity is not too High, bet you will notice that in a day or two your cigars will go softer, make sure they are not too soft, if you think that your box is too humid just leave it open for a while and then make some small halls on the side to get rid of the extra humidity!.
as for cutting make sure the hole is not too big and make sure it is even!. but i believe that the problem was that your cigars were dry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only problem you would have from a poor cut would either be not cutting enough and having a plugged draw or cutting too much and have the wrapper unravel!.

The previous poster is correct in that storing them in the fridge is the WORST thing you can do - dries it out (which would make it smoke very harshly) and can pick up odors!.

If you are only going to keep it a week or so, just double bag it in ziplocks removing as much of the air as possible and keep it in a cool, dry, dark place like a cabinet!.

Otherwise invest in a humidorWww@FoodAQ@Com

Get a humidor!. It is best to keep them at 70 degrees F and 65-70% humidity!. Or just buy them when you plan to smoke them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
