Answers:
Depends on the wine!.
there's 1,000s of wines!.
Whites need to be drank fresh and never aged( same with Beaujolais Nouveau)!.
As far as reds!?
Some are ready to drink and aging will make them go downhill!.
Others can be aged 5, 10, 20 and more years!.
You can always look up the winemakers site and get the answer or ask a wine expert here( but tell what kind of wine you have and the vintage)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Every wine is different!. That's why wine aficionados study weather of regions, vinters, their history and the appellations awarded to each label!. The notion of wine in a bottle aging is a myth that rarely applies today!. In the old days, wine sat in bottles and "aged" so the tannins mellowed!. With modern technology, the majority of wine sold at stores are ready to open and drink!. They won't improve with age!.
