Answers:
If you like Spanish wines the region Ribero Del Duero, or La Rioja produce excellent red wines!. For a good white wine I prefer a Rueda, though a Penedes (Barcelona) is of excellent quality!.
I'm fortunate, I live in Spain!. Wine in Spain is cheap compared to everywhere else!. There is no tax on wine here!. I can get a very good bottle for just a few euros!.

Edit; To the answer below!. The Spanish would never pay that sort of price for wine!. I can get a very good bottle for 4€ (£3!.20) and even at that price many Spaniards would pay that much!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm more a red wine person!. If you spend between £5 and £7 a bottle on Spanish wine, you shouldn't go wrong!.

If you want to try good value wine, buy Argentinian!. Malbec (a grape variety) makes luscious red wines and decent Argentinian wines are cheaper than those from any other country!. I rate Argentinian wine, both red and white, much higher than Chilean!.

If you want New World reliability, Australian and Californian have to win!. But look to pay £7!.50 a bottle or more!. With Californian you should look to spend £12+ for a really classy Zinfandel!. The cheap Californian is beaten into a pulp by competitors from almost anywhere, including France!.

South Africa produces a lot of good wines and many of them are Fair Trade, a good reason for buying!.

Back to the Old World: French wines often are the best but the prices are often harsh!. Italian wines can be great and Primitivo is the same grape as Zinfandel!. Sicilian Primitivo often has rich grapy flavours that can match their Californian counterparts at half or a third the price!.

If you buy German wine, look for quality!. Anything under £6!.50 should be treated with suspicion but there are some good German wines in the £8-£10 region!. It's not all a sugary slurp that it was in the '70s!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Red usually has richer flavours, which I prefer!. Try a decent merlot or cabernet sauvignon!. Your local vintner will be able to recommend good examples of each!. I personally like 'Les Jamelles' merlot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I live in California and a lot of the wines made here are great and cheap I could get a good bottle of red or white for about 12!.00 so try california wines there inexpensive and great and you support a small businessWww@FoodAQ@Com
