So I've just started fermenting my own alcohol!. I'm reading Beowulf at school right now, and want to make some mead!. I know it's made with honey, but if you could give me proportions of honey, water, extra sugar, yeast that would be great!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You'll be in the next grade or the one after that by the time your mead is ready, but it's a great drink!. It is closer to wine than to beer but you can get good recipes from Papazian's book The New Complete Guide to Home Brewing, which is mostly about beer!. You do not add extra sugar; honey provides 100% pf the fermentables!. There are special yeasts for mead!. Considering the high cost of honey, don't try to substitute bakers' yeast!. Get either a sweet mead yeast or a dry mead yeast!. Your local home brew shop can sell it to you but may have to special-order it!. If there is no home brew shop nearby, go to http://byo!.com and click on Reader Resources for links to catalogs!.
If it turns out OK and you remember, drink one for me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
