Question: I have a bottle of rum that I haven't opened in years!.What are those white particles floating around inside!?
Answers:
it's not yeast because rum is distilled to remove all solid matter!. the white particles floating inside could likely be sugar crystallizing since rum is made from the sugar cane or commonly from it's biproduct molasses!. ever unscrew the cap from a bottle of rum and notice all the sweet little crystals of sugar around the rim of the bottle!? just shake it up and they will most likely dissolve back into the spirit!.
