Answers:
Wine can react with the cork - that's why expensive bottles are stored flat, and turned often!. "Corked" wine is bad!.

If the cork dries out, the wine spoils because of prolonged contact with the air!.

Light - can spoil the wine, as can heat!.

Poorly bottled wine can have yeast that will spoil the wine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, wine will eventually go bad!. But, it depends on several things!. First, its type (red, white or blush) Red wines tend to have a longer shelf life (several years) than white or blush wines ( up to 24 months or so) All depending on brand and price!. Next, how they are stored prior to opening; cool temp, no sudden changes and on their sides to keep cork wet (except screw caps)!. But once you open them the air will cause a bottle to last at the very most a week, but that can also vary between type and brand!. Some wines not more than a few days!. And it doesn't matter how quickly you re-insert the cork - the second the air touches the wine the process starts causing the wine to "turn" as the term is used!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, generally speaking, if it tastes closer to vinegar than any fruit you've ever had!.!.!.!. it's a safe bet it's gone bad!. At this point, the wine is better for cooking with, than drinking!.

If a wine wasn't properly stored, oxygen can get in and spoil the wine!. The cork will shrink if it isn't kept wet, which is why you store it on its side and turn it every so often!.

Once a bottle of wine is opened, it needs to be consumed within a day or two, to keep the flavor fresh tasting!. After that is when it starts to "turn", and is more suited for cooking!.

Does this help any!?
