Is it possible to buy a decent bottle of wine at Wal-Mart?!

Question: Is it possible to buy a decent bottle of wine at Wal-Mart!?
I would like to try some dry red wines!. I need to run to the grocery store tomorrow and the closest store is a Super Wal-Mart 40 miles away!. It's on the outskirts of the nearest decent-sized city and I don't want to drive further into town just to find a bottle of wine for myself!. What brand(s) are decent and available at a Wally World!. No snobby answers, please!. I can't afford expensive wine at this point in my life but I very much enjoy a nice glass of wine to unwind after the kids are in bed!. Thanks everybody!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ab-sa-pa-sa-tiva-lutely!. Which is weird for, yes, you will find a good range of decent dry red wines at Wally World!.

What do you like and what do you consider expensive!? For this discussion, I’ll assume your budget is under 15 bucks!. Actually, under 10 bucks would give you some great choices!.

05 Gallo of Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon at around 9!.99 would be a very good item!. As would be Beringer, Mondavi, and Coppola!. I’m suggesting some of the better known names because WM tends to carry more of the bigger names!.

On the French, you really can’t go wrong with Jadot!. Try their Beaujolais Villages for 15 bucks or so!. Its got great dark berry aromas and taste with soft tannins and good, crisp acidity!. Not the dry red you’re looking for, but this wine, a touch chilled, is a fun wine to drink!.

Gallo makes decent wines, as do a lot of the big names!. Here’s an oldie but goodie!. Their Hearty Burgundy - medium bodied, soft tannins, a little bit of dark berries, very drinkable, just a decent glass to have!. Many a wine connoisseur in their younger, broke days drank this stuff and loved it (that would be me, though many probably would not admit to it)!. A bottle can’t be more than 4 bucks and better than most at 6 or 7 bucks!.

Lots of good choices, sometimes that makes it more difficult!. Good grief, I sound like pitchman for California wines, but hey, wineries like Gallo (they produce/distribute Barefoot, Turning Leaf, and a zillion others), Mondavi, Beringer, etc!. are just good standby quality!. 9 to 10 bucks is the sweet spot for me with California wines!.

By the way, just a personal thing, under 5 or 6 bucks, I'd go with a generic red or white, instead of a grape name, ie Merlot on the label!. I think on the lower end, you also get the lower end of the picked grapes!. At least with a blend, you can get better consistency, blends are better at cancelling out the shortcomings, great example is the Gallo Hearly Burgundy!.
Hope this helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not 100% sure if they have it, but Yellow Tail and Barefoot cabernets are suprisingly good!.

Grab a bottle of $10-15 cabernet or merlot!. If it's good, you'll enjoy it, but if it's lousy you won't care after a few glasses anyway!.

Enjoy! Www@FoodAQ@Com
