Would someone tell me what bartending is like?!
A friend of mine told me that you can make really good money bartending and suggested that I get my smart serve and apply at her work[she works at a banquet hall]!. I think I can do it, I mean I have enough work experience and I am old enough[19] but I am kinda shy!.!. Would this sort of job be suited for someone like me!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's busy, hectic, challenging and fun!. A great job! A lot of it is personality, but what matters most is getting the drinks made quickly and correctly! If you can do that and become comfortable with your customers, you'll do well!. Banquet halls would have an advantage because you wouldn't have as many patrons coming in to just have a drink and chat!. They'd be there for other reasons!. I am not familiar with bartending!. I am surprised that you are interested but it is a way to meet all kinds of people!. I suggested ways of meeting people but this is a lot to ask of a shy person!. I think you could do the work but you will have to handle all kinds of people some of whom might not be nice!. Working in a banquet hall would be better than working in a regular bar!. I hope you are adept at moving around in crowds and handling trays without dropping them!. I am not trying to discourage you but have you ever observed bartenders in action!? i was kinda shy when i started serving as well!. you will get over it REAL quick!. i love doing it!. after a while of talking to all kinds of different people you'll become very socially adept!. bartending can be hectic though, its like serving x3!. the money is good though!. i mean you get to meet new people in the best possible situation!. if someone tips you good, hook up their next round!. bam! you've made a friend like that!. its a good gig especially if you get into it at a young age, because it is a coveted position in any restaurant!. you usually have to work your way up to it!. i find it very rewarding though!. good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com
I work in a "Bar" bar!.with things like live bands, dancing and pool tournaments leagues going on through the weekdays in the evenings!. Tonight I worked from 7pm-2:30am and I made $118 in tips alone!. My boss pays me $5 an hour, about $40 more!. I just love it!! I served for many years, and I have nine years behind the bar!. I have worked for Applebee's , banquet halls and, nightclub type bars!. I make the most at the nightclub ones!. I told my husband tonight I actually feel bad by the end of the night, because people tip you so well!.

It really depend on the restaurant!. Is the bar busy or dead!? Go in one night to check things out! See if there are a lot of people sitting at the bar! See if there are a lot of servers serving drinks! If you are shy, I really don't recommended it, just because there is no escape from the customer!. As a server, you can away walk away from the table, but as a bartender, you are stuck behind the bar!Www@FoodAQ@Com
