Question: What is the best way to store cigars!.!?
And how long will they stay fresh!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
First off!. !. !. never put a cigar in the freezer!!! It will ruin it!. A humidor is ideal if you have one but if you dont, you can make one yourself!. The easiest way is to go to a local cigar store and ask if you can have or buy one of the wooden boxes that all cigars come packed in!. If you have to buy one they usually sell them for 5 dollars or less!. Put your cigars in the box!. Take a small sponge and cut a piece that is 2" x 2" in size!. Wet it under running water and then wring out the excess water a little!. Place this wet sponge in the box also!. Close it tightly and store in a dark cool place like a closet or a pantry!. Once a week, re-wet the sponge and place it back in the box!. This sponge will help keep the humidity at a decent level so your cigars will stay in great shape and not dry out!. They will stay fresh this way for many many months! Good luck and enjoy your smokes!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Other than the posters that stated in a humidor, everyone else has given you incorrect, and in some cases, horribly incorrect information!.

First of all, it depends on the type of cigars you are storing!. Cheap, machine made, drug store cigars have propylene glycol in the mixed filler to keep it 'fresh' and will remain so for several weeks without any further humidification!.

Premium hand rolled cigars need to be in a humidor!. A rubbermaid type container will work as long as you open in at least once a week for air exchange!.

Using a wooden cigar box will not work as it is too wide open!. While a humidor is not air tight, it is somewhat closely fitted!. Using a tap water dampened sponge is also not good as mold and bacteria will become a problem!. also, there is no way to regulate the humidity and your sticks will become too wet and unsmokeable!.

If you are not willing to buy a humidor, go the rubbermaid route and buy a drymistat tube from your tobacconistWww@FoodAQ@Com

Cigars should not dry out!. The purpose of a humidor, however large or small, is to maintain an appropriate humidity!.

Unless you buy large quanties, several boxes at a time of unwrapped cigars, the average wrapped or in a tube cigar will be fine for the 2-4 weeks!.

If you are buying fine cigars that are not wrapped or in a tube, get a humidor that meets your need!.
