Can someone IN DENIAL about their drinking problem be compared to this analogy of a gorilla?!

Question: Can someone IN DENIAL about their drinking problem be compared to this analogy of a gorilla!?
"having a problem with drinking; and repeatedly doing the same behaviors over and over with the same results (family, legal problems, etc)!.!.!.!.!.is like "GETTING IN THE BOXING RING WITH A GORILLA, GETTING YOUR A** WHIPPED; AND KEEP GOING BACK IN THAT RING, GETTING THE SAME RESULTS!" !.!.!.

when does the person realize they have a PROBLEM; just like when will the person STOP going in the ring with the GORILLA!

Yeah - that one & the one my sponsor told me about last nite while we were discussing something - she said: "Why is that we always keep repeating the same mistakes, over & over, expecting the results to be different everytime!? It's like repeatedly beating your head against the wall & saying 'Oh, that hurts!' BOOM 'Oh, that hurts!' BOOM"

Denial sux - can't deny that little piece of wisdom! ;~DWww@FoodAQ@Com

The person in denial will not come to terms with the fact that they have a problem, until, unfortunately, they hit ROCK BOTTOM!.

For me, this meant hitting a narcotics officer's vehicle in the process of a drug raid, with one suspect in the back seat and the other got away! Man, were they PISSED!

I was facing divorce, jail, and a boatload of fines, in other words, my life was turning upside down!.

I joined AA, and 9 months later (now)!.!.I avoided ALL of that!.
No jail, my marriage intact, no fines!!

Still looking for a job though, I DID lose that!.

If your living with someone in denial and they just get pissed when you mention AA, or doing something about their problem, get some AA literature and leave it hanging around the house!.

Look into some local social services, who can set up whats called INTERVENTION!.!.but that takes co-operation of all involved family members!. Good Luck, God BlessWww@FoodAQ@Com

Not really!. There is no motivation to get back into that ring!. Alcohol makes people feel good, at least temporarily, and it also blurs reality, so someone with a lot of issues can "escape" them by drinking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like using a Bear instead of a gorilla, and the safe word as "spamoni"!.
HAHA Semi Pro Quote!.

Anyway, yes that sounds good, are you planning on using it on some drunk!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

bad analogy as whats the incentive to get in the ring!? and why do u keep going back whats the addiction to gorrila boxing!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
