Hi! Having been a Bartender & manager for 30+ yrs!. (I'm now retired) I always said that if someone GAVE me a Bar,I'd have to say,"No thank you"!.!.but I do have some ideas & suggestions for you!. First let me say that I sure can tell that soraclou had some great ideas & I'm sure he has been in the business a long time!.To add to his suggestioms I would say too, keep it simple!.Open your eyes & know your area & the people in it!. Then decide who & what type you'd like to more or less cater to!. But make sure to advertise! Take out an ad in the local paper,at least saying something like "new owners, come meet us & have a drink"!. Yep, do buy a drink now & then,it means the world to your customers!. also, talk with your liquor companies, they surely have some promotionly products & ideas!.They may give you "prizes" for having a drink special night!. Have snacks or food if you can on certain nights!. Have a few good TV's with sports & news channels always on!. Having a good,HONEST Bartender is key!.They can make or break a bar!. A good bartender can really make a difference & bring a following too!. Depending on your area, you may be able to have some sort of games!. Not knowing where you are is difficult!.also get a good juke box & fill it with the type of music your customers like or the type of customers you want to have!.Even a family night with food is OK sometimes!. But NO one wants children in a bar nor to they belong in a Bar!. I have so much more to tell you,but I think I've been on my soapbox long enough today!. Please feel free to email me if you'd like to talk or ask me anything else!. I loved my career being in the "Drinking Man & womens world" & I wish you all the luck! Start by knowing your neighborhood & advertising & you'll be off to a good start! OK,I'm climbing down now! Www@FoodAQ@Com

Start small, do not throw crazy events that may only pull in a few people, it'll look bad to an outside observer and make guests feel uncomfortable!.

Have you thought of a name change or at least a little changeover on the outside and then the inside!. You do not want people to think they'll be going to the same shiat place that it was before!.

Start with a weekday happy hour and some very simple music weeknights!. Nothing cheesy!. Do you serve food!? If so, do you have a signature dish!? If not, is there a way you serve some simple foods!? Become popular for some out of this world wings or the perfect burger!. Maybe even entrees, like classic bar food with a nice twist!. Search Gastro Pub for some ideas!.

What type of bar is it!? Irish pub!? English pub!? Sports Bar!? Lounge!? You'll need an identity!. I have worked in the beer business for years and let me tell you, nothing is more palatable then a bar with an identity!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should tie in some things with food (wings for 25 cents a piece, cheaper burgers) on certain days, tied in with beer specials (ask the beer distributorship what they are willing to do)!. Karaoke maybe!? Trivia game!? Any pool tables there!? Run a pool tournament!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do a theme party!! We have a break in the weather party in March every year!. It's huge!! You should do it yearly then!.!.Volly ball turny and horse shoes!.!.raffles!.!.three man bands to keep price down try to have them outside!.!.firepit!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
