Why shouldn't we lower the drinking age to 18?!

When I started drinking (legally) the drinking age was 18!. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it!. Someone mentioned the irresponsibility of teens today!. That is B!.S!. Teens are no more irresponsible today than they were when I grew up or when he(or she) grew up!. There is more to get into than there was then!. But that is left up to the individual!.
I believe that because we were allowed to drink and go in bars at 18 when I grew up, there was less chance of getting involved with something else because we didn't feel the need to sneak around!. If I am sneaking around drinking at an earlier age, it is easy for that to lead to something else simply because my mind becomes conditioned to sneaking around!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

18 year olds are not even close to being responsible enough to handle being able to drink alcohol!.
Most Americans, with our BS puritanical views on drugs, alcohol, and sex, aren't mature enough to handle alcohol!. Making the drinking age 18 would only exacerbate the problem of college kids binging and drinking way too much!.
That being said, I say we lower the drinking age to 18 on the grounds that if you can fight and die for this country, you can drink when you please!. I would also allow anyone 16 and up to be allowed to drink in the company of their parents or guardians, much like they do in most European countries!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because kids nowadays can't handle their alcohol and just abuse it like any other drug and the go and drive all over the highway and cause tragic accidents all over the place also they just throw their opala everywhere but in the trash can!. I don't think you can generalize all teens like some of the answers here have by saying that they will all ruin their lives and get DUIs or in accidents!. But in the US, it seems as if many cannot handle the responsibility!. It works in other countries and teens don't go crazy there but here, many are out of control!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the number one cause of teenage death in the u!.s!. is caused by reckless driving and even though 18 is considered to be an adult you still have the word "teen" in it and people dont like the idea of "lowering the standards" because of politics and things like that!.
