Why would a drink be called "dirty"?!
i've seen a couple of movies where a person asks for a drink and then tells the bartender to make it dirty!. What does "dirty" refer to!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

how I make a drink dirty is to add something dark to something clear!.
For example a dirty mexican is tequila with a bit of kahlua!.
Perhaps say use dark rum instead of white for a mostly clear drink!.
I also add kahlua to orange juice and it tastes really good but looks muddy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

dirty means it has gin!. Dirty vodka martini is called dirty b/c the vodka by itself is very clear in the glass, but when you add the gin it has sort of like a non-filtered look to it, hence 'dirty'Www@FoodAQ@Com
A garnish, usually an olive or onion is added, some of the juice of the garnish gets into the drink giving it a cloudy look!.
