Question: Can bread yeast make beer!?
In making ones own beer, can ordinary baker's yeast be used in the primary!?

It can be used but it shouldn't!. Bakers' yeast is bred to produce lots od carbon dioxide and little alcohol!. You want the opposite!. It pays to splurge a couple of bucks for the proper yeast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. I've successfully made beer, wine and mead with bread yeast!. Or at any rate it was drinkable!. The main differences between baking yeast and the different brewing yeasts is that bread yeasts work much faster and they can't tolerate as high a concentration of alcohol!. But if you want to win any prizes, use the recommended type of brewer's yeast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
