Question: I need to stop drinking excessively!!!?
I need some ways to stop drinking alcohol excessively!!!?
I'm a healthy 27 year old male!. I'm in a 5 year relationship with pretty much non-drinker!. Ever since I was about 17, I have always been known as a heavy drinker!. I don't do it all the time but when I do it's way too much!. I never throw up or pass out but the amount I can consume is just way too much!. I have such a hard time quiting once I start especially if I have my mind made up that Im getting messed up!. It's always been fun and games but lately it's really affecting my relationship and my life in general!.
It's easy to say that I should just quit but it's so much harder than that!. When I'm not drinking It's like I'm always worried about stuff like I have the worst anxiety in the world, but when I drink I don't worry about ****!. I love that feelin, but not at the risk of ruining everything!. also all my friends know me as the guy the will out drink anyone so It's weird for me to let them see me dead sober, cuz I'm not the same guy I am when I'm drinkin!.
Does anyone have advise for me!. Maybe some anxiety medication or something, I dont know!. Please respond with some halfway intellegent answers if possibe, thanks

That's how it began with me!.Overtime I lost my boyfriend of 4 years, any other relationship after that has failed!.!.affected my job and friendships!.!.!.i slowly watched my life fall apart the past 4 years due to drinking!.!.!.it took me losing everything to quit!. learn to cut it back and not drink your face off!.!.!.or quit(its not easy!.!.actually probably the hardest thing i had to ever overcome!.!.but will be worth it)!. One of these nights you'll f**k up then you'll wake up the next morning full of regret!. also don't care what your friend think they don't have to walk in your shoes!.!.!. i feel stupid sometimes going places sober,I'm not the same person sober,not as fun etc!.!. but at least i know every night will be a positive night and i won't risk messing everything up!.I use to be careless too when i drank and just wanted to have fun!.!.!.but it has a big cost for some people!.trust me!. !.!.!.!.goodluck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you should see a therapist!. They may suggest some alternatives to drinking!. If you have an anxiety problem, they can refer you to a psychiatrist who can diagnose you and prescribe anxiety medication!. It is better to find natural ways to combat anxiety than taking drugs, I think!. Because anxiety can occur anytime throughout life!. Alcohol is serious and takes a serious commitment and understanding of what options are available!. I can go on and on about statistics and research data supporting alcohol induced anxiety and depression and insomnia, etc!.(no need for this when you are dead set on quiting)!. But I just think you should work on taking the next step, which is seeking some serious treatment !. By wanting change this is the MOST important step to stop drinking!. However, you have to be careful because relapse can happen but that is okay!.!.!.just get over the guilt and try the treatment the next day!. Recovery is one day at a time!.

As for medications, for controlling desire for alcohol, is wellbutrin!.Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't!. The alcohol is causing the anxiety and can lead to a number of other problems as well!.!.!.like sleep (even though alcohol makes you sleepy it keeps you from sleeping b/c it interferes with the REM cycle)!. So, tackle the root of the problem by focusing on tackling the alcohol issue first!. I read somewhere of a new treatment!.!.!.I will look it up and paste it!.
Another thing to increase the chances of getting over alcohol is avoiding the triggers that make you want to drink!. You listed some above, like friends and bars so stay away from friends who suggest drinking (make new ones who will support your decision if you have to) as well as bars!. Explain to your friends your situation, and if they are your friends they will understand!. This is your life so you have to do what is right!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

medication is not the answer!. First of all if your friends are really your friends they will not cause if your sober or drunk!.!.!.your still the same person!. the best thing you can do is to just stop cold turkey and not make excuses!. you need to find a hobby something that you love!. If its something your mate can join with you the better if not that's ok to!.

I drank everyday for 2 years!.!.!.now i drink about 2 or 3 beers a week!. I started working out and reading!. open your mind by reading!.!.!.when ever you feel like drinking just go run a few miles you will feel better than you ever would from drinking!.

that's all i did its really hard but people will respect you more and you will feel much better mentally and physically trust meWww@FoodAQ@Com
