Just means equal all the way around!. For example is you use a quarter cup of rum, use a quarter cup of everything that says "one part"Www@FoodAQ@Com
You can think of it as a fraction!.
1 part describes a ratio which is represented like this 1:1!.
A ratio can be any comparative value such as 1:2 or 2:5!.
It gives a relative degree of amount or concentration being considered compared one to the other!.
One part can be any measure 1oz or 1 cup or 1 ton!.
{In fact we do not need to know an actual measurement!. We can just use the same "eyeball" level measurement!.}
In your bartending question it is stating just the ratio allowing the bartender (you) to choose the measurement!. But of course we are sensible and usually use a shot, fluid ounce, or tumbler!.
Say from your recipe we want just one drink!. We can add one shot of each of the ingredients!. This is a 1:1 ratio or as I call it here 1:1:1 ratio!.
On another case you may want a lot of the drink and so you use a tumbler glass as your measure!. So then you would add just one of each of the ingredients filled to the same level in the tumbler!. Again this is a 1:1:1 ratio but makes much more of our drink!.
Finally!. if the recipe had a different ratio we can follow it just the same with the special ratio observed!.
Mix these
3 part Coconut Rum
1 part sprite
2 part cranberry juice
Mix 3 parts (ounces/tumblers whatever) of the rum, 1 part of the sprite, and 2 parts of the cranberry juice to make the drink!.
3 part Coconut Rum = 3 ounces
1 part sprite = 1 ounce
2 part cranberry juice 2 = ounces

think of it as fractions!.
If you are making a 6 oz drink you would need 2 ozs of each ingredient!. If you were making a 12 oz drink, you would use 4 ozs of each!.
If say the recipe called for 2 parts rum, 1 part sprite, 1 part cranberry juice - you would use 3 oz of rum, and 1!.5 each of sprite and cranberry juice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A part is whatever you want it to be!.!.!. basicly its saying equal amounts of each!.
Can be a shot, a cup, or a gallon, what ever you want your measurement to be, just keep them equal!.
if you are making a drink for one or two people, id stick to shots!. but, like i said!.!.!. any amount you want!Www@FoodAQ@Com

one part isn't a actual size!. say you have 8 liters right and one 1 part is sprite and 7 parts is cranberry juice, 1 liter would be equal to 1 part!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
it's a fraction!. say your making a drink with four different alcohols!. you'd have four parts!. if you wanted one part sprite, then one fourth of the volume would be sprite!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
