How do I tell if my airlock is working?!


Question: How do I tell if my airlock is working!?
I am brewing mead with a s shape airlock and the last three brews I have attempted bubbled once every 40 seconds !.!.!.all of which produced less then desirable mead!.!.!.!.is there something I can do to check if my airlock/seal is working!.!.!.because before fermentation started the water level would always equalize in the airlock chambersWww@FoodAQ@Com

If the water level is different in the two arms of your airlock, the airlock is working properly!. Just cover the carboy and forget about it for a year or two!. Mead ferments very slowly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This is a simple question!. Brewing is different from factory to another one!. However the time is not a basic and fundamental element in your fermentation!. What you need is dependent on various elements like your grapes types and the kind of polymer which you use for fermentation!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Brewing like that you can lose a lot of product, airlocks can't be trusted and they often fail, most of us who have brewed or know of someone who does, doesnt use this system but thats here in australia, its different for other countries, hope this helps, goodluck! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
