You can ask if they have cider!. They may have only apple, or they may have pear or other flavors!. If they don't have cider, look for a light pilsner or lager style!. You might also like a hefeweisen (pronounced heffay-vise-en!.!.!.or if you see it on the menu, just point) which is a wheat beer that's typically served with lemon!. It has a light flavor with a little inherent fruitiness which is accentuated with the lemon!.

Personally, I always ask what their cask beer is!. They sometimes have a unique or hard to get beer, or a seasonal specialty that's available until they run out!. They tend to be the darker, richer beers, like stouts or porters, so it may not be to your taste!. Worth a try, at least once in my opinion!.

You probably lean towards the more mildly hopped beers (less hoppiness) and so you might do to steer clear of styles like IPA or ESB (India Pale Ale/Extra Special Bitter, respectively) as they are strongly hopped!. Hops is what adds the bitter, almost piney flavor!.

also, they are always happy to answer questions about their beers and beer in general!. If you tell them that you're not familiar with beer and the styles, they'll usually be very happy to break it all down for you!. You might also be able to order a sampler which is a mini serving of some or all of the styles available!. That way you can try them all!. Who knows, you might find a style that you never considered and that you actually enjoy more than what you already drink!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your first best bet is to ask if they have a hard cider; usually a safe bet if you want something that isn't too strong, or you don't want to be too adventerous!. Most breweries like that will have a sampler (5 or so of their house brews) so you can try all of what they have to offer!. I'm partial to cherry wheat beer, and stouts (stouts usually have a chocolatey or coffee like taste, but are strong in flavor, and therefore an acquired taste!. If they have it, I'd recommend the sampler!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You want to stay away from most Ales as they are going to generally be "hoppier" (have more of a bitter hops taste)!. I would go for something like a Heffewiesn which is a German wheat beer!. It is generally milder with a smooth taste!. Look for beers with a light amber to amber-red color!. Since both Bud and Corona are Lagers, ask them what they have in an American style lager!. Talk to the people behind the bar!. Tell them what you are used to and ask for recommendations!. if they are proud of their brew, they will want you to have a good experience and will steer you in the right direction!.
