No!. Drinking beer even if you drink only beer as your alcoholic beverage of choice does not inherently cause someone to be considered an alcoholic!.

Can they have a family life!? Yes!.

What then qualifies one as an alcoholic!? An alcoholic is a person that cannot do these things without first consuming alcohol!. They are so dependent on effects of alcohol that they cannot successfully accomplish these normal activities without the use of it!. Alcoholism is mostly an inherited trait of their genetics but for a very few it is just a discipline issue!. Overall, the people that can be called alcoholics are a relatively small group of people of the billion(+) people that consume it!.
In addition, I do understand what you are attempting to ask and the answer is yes!. Beer is, sadly, an alcoholic beverage that is often abused by consumers and alcoholics!. Drinking beer and beer alone does not exempt one from being or becoming an alcoholic!.

there is no set number of beers or drinks!. The problem is when it interferes with your life!. If you sit in front of the TV & drink all night you are an alcoholic!. If you go to the bar & drink all night you are an alcoholic!. If you don't go put with your family because you would rather drink you are an alcoholic!.

How much is too much!? that's hard to say, but if one beer makes you miss work the next day,(not gonna happen) it's too much!. I know a guy who drank over a case a day and never missed work or anything so I'd say it was not too much!. I drink when we are playing music out one or two weekend days per week, usually 3 or 4 never more than a six-pack!. Sometimes that six was too much!. (hic!)
