Best to seal the hole completely and drill another one!. You can get expanding plugs at most hardware stores in a variety of sizes!. They are metal and rubber with a spring on the inside!. It would help to know the current size to figure out your options!.

If you can't find the fitting I just described, get a double-threaded piece of pipe that just fits through the hole and is about 1" longer than the thickness of the barrel!. Cap it on both sides with some non-reactive gaskets and you can drill you new hole!. You can have pipe cut and threaded to length at any Home Depot!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You can put a safe rubber sealant around it!. It comes in a tube and you should be able to get it at any auto part store!. after its dry!.!.!.you can put your cork in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Put some isolating tape around the cork and then put it in this will make the cork fit in right!. or make the cork wet until it swells!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

make a paste out of flour and water!. you can seal around the corkWww@FoodAQ@Com
