How can I describe the taste of Newcastle Brown Ale to a Belgian beer drinker?!
I wanted to bring some English beer back from my day trip!. Then I got into a muddle as to wether he would even like Newkie brown ale!. So I bought him 4 large cans of Carling Black Label instead!. But if I could describe the taste of it !.!.!. he might decided if he would like to try it for a next time!.

Describe it as a very tame Trappist ale!. Newcastle kinda reminds me of Rochfort Trappist Ales, but less complex and with way less alcohol!. There are probably much better examples of English beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Tell him it's what a Belgian ale would taste like if the Belgian's could not brew! I take it you don't like the poor guy very much!? At least buy
him a decent English beer such as Fuller's London Porter or Adnam's Broadside or Theakston's Old Peculier!.

English (and Welsh, Scottish etc) beers are fairly unique and very few other countries produce similar drinks!. It would therefore be very hard to explain what they taste like!. Your best bet would be to order him some online and get it delivered to him (I'm sure there are companies which would do that), possibly along with some other British beers - London Pride, Boddingtons, IPA etc!.
