What happens to liquor when you keep it for years?!

Question: What happens to liquor when you keep it for years!?
This should be an easy one!. Say I buy a bottle of Glenlivet 12 year old and it sits on my shelf for 5 years!. Do I now have Glenlivet 17 for only a portion of the price!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Generally letting alcohol sit longer means any remaining sugar present will also ferment, so you may have higher alcohol content!.

Glenlivet 17 maybe went 17 years in a barrel, while your Glenlivet 12 aged 5 years in a bottle!.!.!. it didn't pick up any extra oak finish, no what you have is NOT identical to Glenlivet 17!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hard liquor stops aging when it is removed from the barrel and bottled!. Your bottle of twelve year old scotch will still taste like twelve year old scotch in five years!. Plus even if you poured it into a barrel for five years it would not be the same as the seventeen year old stuff from the distillery!. Distilleries mix from different barrels and batches to get a consistent flavour!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yep it gets better each year!. But the number denotes how long it was in a wood barrel gathering flavor!. So it will not be as good as a 17 but it will be much better than a 12!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

nothing happens to it its supposed to taste better after a long time
you should keep it another couple of years then sell it on ebay for lots of money
or just drink it yourselfWww@FoodAQ@Com

"It gets better "ha ha ha ha ha ha haWww@FoodAQ@Com
