What does adding sugar to absinthe do?!

Question: What does adding sugar to absinthe do!?
Answers:
Absinthe is made with wormwood, which is very bitter - the sugar sweetens the drink!.

The business with the sugar cube and the special absinthe spoons adds an element of ritual and mystique to the whole affair as well, bringing sophistication and disguising the fact that you're effectively drinking rocket fuel to get plastered ;)Www@FoodAQ@Com

It sweetens it!. Absinthe is a liquor not a liqueur, and as such is bottles with no sweetener added!.

Absinthe is also VERY high in alcohol so most drinkers also add some cold water!. Adding water turns the absinthe a cloudy green for some reason!. Hence, the nickname "Green Fairy!." Www@FoodAQ@Com
