What would be your response to a fifteen year old whose answer to why he drinks is "because he was sober"?!
I asked my grandson that question when the police brought him home one day about 3 p!.m!. The next day he didn't remember the answer to the same question and just said I don't know!. Other than the obvious he needs professional help, what can I do!? I just came back into his life!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you area main authority figure in your grandson's life I would say that forcing him to sit and talk to you about the problem is a start!. Make sure you let him know from the beginning that he can come to you with any problem at all and that you will not be judgmental!. A big fear of a lot of young people is being judged or being a disappointment to someone!.
Chances are, if he doesn't have any major problems with his home life, then he is drinking because he i underage and it seems exciting to be doing something he is not supposed to!. If this seems like the case after thinking about it and talking to him try explaining to him the negative consequences of his action, and not just ones involving the police, but physical effects to the body!.

I don't know how close you are to him as of now, but I would say continue developing a close relationship!. As you do just be a good influence to him!. Spend time with him so he has something to do!. If you know anyone his age that would be a good influence, introduce him to those people as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would find out where he is getting the stuff and stop that source!. If the cops brought him home and he had a witty answer because he was intoxicated maybe he should sober up in a holding cell so he can realize the consequences of his actions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
