Question: Why are spirits called spirits when all alcohol is the same!?
The active ingredient is ethanol, whether it is beer, wine or whiskey!. Therre is no chemical difference, but the concentration is greater!. So why do they call it a spirit!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Spirits usually start around 40% abv and can be set alight by a flame!.

Ok imagine all alcohol called alcohol and you going to the bar to order some beer so bartender asking you:

- what do you want sir!?

-yes sure sir we have lot's of choice what would you like

they've just called it that for years, you wouldn't want to go to the bar that has a sign that says ALCOHOL, BEER, WINE! spirits is just the name for cocktails and liqueurs!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
