A GOOD reason why shops don't accept provisional licenses as I.D.?!

Question: A GOOD reason why shops don't accept provisional licenses as I!.D!.!?
A provisional license is just as good at showing who you are, how old you are as a full one!. You still have to show your passport in order to get it etc!. The only difference between a pink license and a green one is that with a pink license you're legally allowed to drive!.

So why are supermarkets getting pi$$y when I show them my provisional!? I don't see why I should have to carry my passport around and risk it getting lost because of supermarkets/clubs red tape!

Can anyone tell me the reason why they do this!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

The supermarkets are only allowed by law to accept full driving licences, not provisional!. It's one of a number of very strict rules they have to follow in order to sell alcohol in any store!.

This is checked upon regularly by Trading Standards officers and anyone breaking any of the rules can be given a very large fine and banned from working in any store selling alcohol!. The store will also be fined and will get their licence to sell alcohol taken away!.if they repeatedly break the law!.

You may not like the rules, shop assistants probably like them even less, but it was and is people like me that have to deal with those who take their frustration out on the shop assistant when you haven't got acceptable ID!. Please understand that the shop assistant likes their job and want s to keep it!. They also can't afford to pay a fine that could be thousands of pounds!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ive never had any problems using my provisional as ID, you obviously go to shops where the staff are idiots - a provisional licence is EXACTLY the same as a full licence (in apperance) except the wording and the fact that one is green while the other is pink!.

It's a legal document, you'd get in a lot of trouble if you faked it, so anywhere that doesnt accept it as ID is clearly stupid!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am not sure why they wont accept it I guess its because a driving license is an official government document!.

They are getting really silly in supermarkets atm, I was refused alcohol because I was with someone who looked under age and they even asked my other friend who is 28 for ID and he was only buying a smoothie, I am 27 so its just really frustrating and annoying!.
They use the excuse that they could loose their jobs but their job is serve costumers, so its all very stupid!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because with a provisional license you could still be 17 and legally you have to be 18 before you can purchase alcohol!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most likely because the people who work in supermarkets are not at the upper end of the intelligence bell curve!. They probably think it's not "real"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They aren't used as valid id because they can be forged too easily!. A passport and full driving licence can't be done so easily!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This seems to be something in England / the UK and I've not travelled to your country!.
But on the provisional licenses, does it show your age anywhere!? That might be why!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i know my sister could not open a bank account with one and she had had to send her birth certificate /attested photo to get the licence!.!.sillyWww@FoodAQ@Com

They probably don't see them very often and think that it may be a fake!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You might crash a trolley into somethingWww@FoodAQ@Com
