Question: Does drinking wine make you sleepy!?
I just ate my family's Thanksgiving meal and I had of course the usual turkey and stuffing etc!. I know turkey is supposed to make you tired, but what about white wine!? I had a glass and now I'm drowsyWww@FoodAQ@Com

Actually, it's more of the carbs AND tryptophan in turkey that makes you sleepy!. The carbs create an insulin response that clears your blood of all amino acids EXCEPT tryptophan, so you've got a high level of trytophan compared to other amino acids!. AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW, tryptophan is readily converted to serotonin!. I'm pretty sure there's some that's converted into melatonin after that, but not positive!.
