The common bartending term "on the rocks" is exactly what it sounds like: serving a drink over ice!. Often the term is used when referring to a straight shot of liquor poured in a short glass filled with ice, ie!. "I'll have a Scotch on the rocks!." "On the Rocks" can also be used when describing the preferred way to serve a mixed drink such as a Screwdriver or Sea Breeze!. I guess you could say give me a coke on the rocks!. But I am not sure people would know what your talking about!. If your in a bar the barkeep would assume he missed the rum, whiskey etc part!. Just my opinion but you should stick with coke !. Since soda pop is always served on ice anyway !. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well a coke with ice is with ice!

A drink on the rocks is something like Bourbon or Whiskey because having it straight without any ice can feel as if it is burning your throat!.

also, the ice you have in a coke is normally brittle and melts quick!. The ice you have with Whiskey is harder and the pieces are bigger so as to not melt as quick!.

Just order a coke with ICE!Www@FoodAQ@Com

LOl that you asked this !? earlier this evening I saw an add for alcohol on TV and I lol and said well I will have my soda on the rocks!. my bffl looked at me like do what!? I smiled you know with ice!. Two cubes that is!.

a drink on the rocks, is a drink poured onto the ice, not ice in after!
