What are your opinion's on the proposed ban on cheap alcohol deals?!

Question: What are your opinion's on the proposed ban on cheap alcohol deals!?
The Government are proposing a ban on supermarkets, pubs and bars from selling cheap alcohol, banning "Happy Hour", 2 for 1 deals etc, to be announced in the Queen's speech this christmas!.
http://www!.dailymail!.co!.uk/news/article-!.!.!.

As a nurse working in an Emergency Unit I welcome this idea, as we are over run with drunks in on a saturday night!. But then again, after a busy shift I look forward to a good 2 for 1 deal on cocktails!

Are we being punished for those irresponsible drinkers out there!? Maybe the government should concentrate on charging people who attend A&E because they are drunk if they have no injuries!? Half the time we are just babysitting them until they sober up!.

What are your thoughts on this!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
The answer is unfortunately yes, we are being punished for the irresponsible drinkers!. Perhaps casualty departments should start up a "drunk tank" room where all the drunks could be thrown until they sober up!. Let them all fall and puke over each other!. They must make your job hell!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My thoughts are this

The same people that buy cheap beer at the supermarket are NOT the same people who get in fights and cause trouble in town centres! The government should Monitor the pubs and clubs more closely than this pathetic restriction of trade for people who drink cheep beer at home because they;ve been priced out of the bleeding pubs!! Gordon really is a moron!

Another thing is that anyone that turns up at caualty drunk should be billed for their treatment!.
Sting this minority of idiots not the majority of responible drinkersWww@FoodAQ@Com

Drinking loads is ingrained in British culture, so no, it wont stop people going crazy and drinking loads!. However, it might limit how much damage you can do to yourself, because I know if i'm a little tipsy and see a good drinks offer, I go straight for it without much consideration!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's rubbish, the govenment is just trying to make things harder for the poor/poorer!.Even if im wrong, why should the responsible drinker be punished for those who can't control how much they consume!? It's a a cuture difference!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sooner the better!. Far too many problems caused by drunks!. Bring back 11 o'clock closing time and restrict alcohol sales to pubs and proper off licenses!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well!.!.!.!.!. I often buy my alcohol at the supermarket - usually on 2 for 1 deals etc!. BUT I drink at home - know my limits and stop when I reach that - so I don't end up in casualty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's ridiculous that responsible adults are going to be paying over the odds because of the minority who can't handle their drink!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it would be unwise for the UK goverment to ban cheap booze because once this country sobers-up, government heads are going to roll!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

they should charge the people who end up at cas because they cant take the drinkWww@FoodAQ@Com

I don't drink so it will not bother me i iotaWww@FoodAQ@Com

I do agree that the deals should be banned because there are so many people who just don't know how to handle their alcohol responsibly!. I am not against drinking, I do have the odd drink, but I don't see the point in going out and getting so drunk that I can't remember my own name or where I live!.

This may help to lower the price of alcohol for responsible though (strange as it sounds) because if the brewers don't have to fund all these deals, they may be able to offer better prices on standard products!. This in turn may encourage more responsible drinking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think that the bans on 'all you can drink for £10' and free booze for women are very welcome!. Ministers have not yet decided on happy hours!.

I understand that people may feel as though the majority is being punished because of the actions of a minority but to put it simply there will be and always have been people that do not know when to stop and ruin the good times for everyone!.

Responsible drinking is long way off in this country but if you want to have fun, play games and drink till your sick there's no ban on doing so at parties or in your own home!.
also, why do people feel the need to 'relax' with a drink !?

What I object to is having my evening destroyed when I'm having a good time in my local where I'm paying for the privilege!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it is ridiculous that other people are being punished!. People across all social classes and incomes enjoy a drink to relax and enjoy themselves, and by making alcohol more expensive these people may not be able to take part!. Drinking is a choice that each one of us makes, we shouldnt be forced to pay premiums on an activity that the majority or people are sensible about!. More needs to be done to tackle the indiviudal drunks that are a drain on the resources, not just put a sweeping punishment across the country for those of us who work hard and would like a glass of wine on the weekend!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

the majority of people drink responsibly and should not be punished for the actions of a small minority, the police have enough powers to combat the people that are spoiling it for others, they need to get off their useless @rses and do what they are paid for instead of trying to get us all home and in bed by 11 pm!. the politicians are a joke, they get subsidised alcohol in the houses of parliament, but want us to pay more for it, as usual these laws will only affect the poorer people and it's not only them that are a nuisance with booze in them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
