Answers:
A heavy red goes well with chocolate!. Something like a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Zinfandel, or even a Shirah (or Shiraz, if it's Australian)!. These reds tend to have almost chocolatey undertones in their aftertaste!. And, they should go well with stronger cheeses!. Something like brie or camembert (soft, spreadable cheeses), sharp cheddar, or even a Swiss!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Overly sweet wines DO NOT go well with most chocolates!. Only top grade not too sweet chocolates!.

I agree that a bubbly could work!. Mirabelle Brut is about $16/bottle!. It would match with any nicer gourmet cheese from Brie to Gorgonzola!.

Aside from that, a tawny port could work!.

And then, a Chateauneuf des Papes in generally AMAZING with cheese!.

Oregon Pinot is another one that works will with both - but for a good one, you are looking at starting at about $40!. Not sure if that's in the budget!. If it is, then Archery Summit Cuvee is great!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

A sweet wine would be the obvious choice!. I'd recommend a red, such as Pinot Noir, although a Sangiovese would work well with firm cheeses as well as soft cheeses!.

If you (or your gift recipient) prefer white wine, something fruity and sweet, like a Sauvignon Blanc, would work!. Or you could stick with the old standby: white Zinfandel (which is actually blush/pink)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Champagne and brie are a perfect match!. Get White Star Moet and Chandon (35$-45$) and a simple brie (5$) or cranberry Camembert (5$)from Trader Joe's if U R in CA!. For dark Choc!. a red will do, Mouton Rothchild (7$-10$)!. In general the stronger the cheese the redder the wine!. Cheers!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know about wine, but a mid-priced port goes well with anything, especially cheese!. Or pick a decent red wine and make it dark chocolate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
