I love vodka, most liquors like rum and jack daniels are ok, but i hate cognac and whiskey (i only tried jameson)!.

Scotch is NOT just a refined whiskey, it does not taste like cough medicine and if you have to develp the taste for it you probably don't like it!. Does anyone that answered this question LIKE scotch!? Or even know ANY thing about it!. Each scotch is different and it depends on a few things!. Is it, blended!? Is it a Single Malt!? What is the difference between the two!? Where is it from!? It makes a difference, as the use the local water to make it!. So each region has a different flavor!. Scotch is a whiskey made from barley that has be roasted over a peat fire!. Jameson is an irish whiskey also mad from barley but not roasted, and it is triple distilled!. Quite different from scotch, but it has some comparisons!. American whiskeys are made from different grains, a bourbon is required to have at least 51% corn in its mash!. So now that I've ranted on and you've stopped reading!. Scotch tastes like apples to me!. The better the scotch you buy, the better it will probably taste!. I prefer a single malt, but when I buy cheap, 30 dollars or less, I chase with Mountain Dew!. When it's a good liquor I sip from a tumbler!. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER!!!!! put whiskey on ice!. it destroys all the subtle flavor!. this is of course subject to opinion and taste, but there you go!. I hope its been a little helpful!.

If you don't like Irish Whiskey (Jameson) and you like Kentucky Whisky (Jack Daniels) you probably won't like scotch!. Scotch is a whiskey that has a peat flavor!. Some have a stroger peat influence than others!. Milder flavored ones are Glenlivet and Glenfiddich and most of the blended scotches (Johnnie Walker, Dewars, Chivas Regal, etc)!. Stronger flavored ones include Laphroaig, Pinch, MacCallans!.
For most people, scotch is an acquired taste, they don't like it much at first, but over time develop a liking for it!. There aren't many mixed drinks that call for scotch for a couple of reasons!. The scotch taste doesn't really pair with many mixers and scotch drinkers prefer to drink it neat or on ice so they "experience" the scotch (like serious wine drinkers)!.

I am going to be that you probably will not like scotch when you first drink it!. I find that if I have not imbibed scotch in a while, then my tastebuds have a negative reaction when I first start drinking it!. But after a while, my tongue adjusts and I come to rather like it!.
The buzz you get from each kind of liquor can be a little different!. What I like about scotch is that it gives you a mellow buzz and doesn't make you crazy like bourbon or tequilla will!. So as an alcoholic beverage, Scotch has it's advantages, but it is a bit of an acquired taste!.!.!.kinda like trying raw oysters for the first time!.
Some people come to absolutely LOVE the taste of scotch and swear it is like "mother's milk" to them!. You should try going to a Johnny Walker scotch tasting event if they have those in your area (look them up on internet and call or phone you nearest big distilled spirits distributor for reference)!. You learn about the difference between single malt scotches and other varieties of scotch, based on where they are made!. It is quite interesting and they usually serve you a meal with it!. I don't know if their marketing department still has the advertising budget to sponsor such things anymore, but of all the wine tastings and similar events I've been to, the Johnny Walker scotch tasting was the most informative and satisfying!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
