I get asked this question a lot!. I'll start out by saying that, in this industry, going to bartending school is kind of a joke and probably a waste of money!. The truth is, the bartending part of bartending is easy and most people can do it!. The hard part that comes with the experience that bar owners want is how you deal with the stress that comes when you unexpectedly get slamming busy and things start to go wrong!. When a bar says it wants an 'experienced bartender,' what they really want is simply an honest, hard working employee that shows up on time and is friendly to customers!. Since there are a lot of flakes out there looking for these jobs, having previous experience cuts down the very expensive training process and lowers the overall risk of hiring a bad employee!. My advice to you is to get a job at a bar or restaurant that serves alcohol as a server, busser, host, etc!. (somewhere in the 'front of the house' that's not a bartender)!. Big corporate chain restaurants are where a lot of people start out in this business!. Once you're in, just do a damn good job and make sure the management likes you!. Then, when a bartending position inevitably opens up, express your interest in the position!. You've already proven that you're a reliable employee and, like i said before, bartending is not a very hard thing to learn so the bar owner or manager will be more likely to go with somebody they already trust!. This kind of thing happens every day!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When they say, BAR experience, the do mean the bar, i!.e!. cocktails, serving and the like!. Restaurant experience is different!. Drinks are an add on and generally, the waitstaff gets the Bartender to make the drinks!.

You are in a "chicken or the egg" scenario!.!.!. I don't know where you live or the demographics of your area, however, I hardly think that it would be hard to find a job as a Bartender - I did it for 10 years!. What I highly suggest is making a few calls and go out to a few yourself, but avoid the "target bars", i!.e!. what you would classify as your dream bartending job!. Go to a lesser known establishment and talk to the owner or manager and see if they will give you a chance!. Gain experience and then take it to your more desireable location!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you have a favorite watering hole where you're friends with the bartender or owner, ask them to say you were a bartender there!.

Or, tell one of your friends to say they're a bar owner and give your new prospective employer their number!. Your friend can say, yep that you're the greatest bartender they ever had!. If the new employer wants to know where the bar is that you worked, make up an address out of state!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.hey you gotta do whatever it takes to get a job nowadays!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They want real bartending experience!. It's easy to make one drink correctly, the trick in bartending is to make all the drink orders as efficiently as possible, while the customer thinks that they are your only concern in the world!. Try getting a job at a local restaurant where you might be making drinks and doing register!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I know you want to go to an actual Bar for your experience, but the next best thing is to spend an evening with me and my father's side of the family!. You will be quite experienced by time the evening is over!.

Sunday nite we started with vodka sours, then went to vodka and pineapple juice, then appletini's, and then wine!. I think there was a few cosmo's, but I didn't have any!. And, that was a lite night !.!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would say probably actual bar experience so they know you know how to mix a drink, and what the different drinks are!. There are bartending schools you can go to, and it's for only a short amount of time if that's something you are interested inWww@FoodAQ@Com
