State Controlled Liquor Stores?!

Question: State Controlled Liquor Stores!?
I live in Washington State and the liquor stores are all state controlled!. That means there is nothing on sale in the newspapers, everything is controlled by the state!. There is no competetive pricing, which means in the state of Washington, you pay more!. I moved from Illinois and the price for Canadian Club (1!.75 liter) is $19!.99, In Washington the price is $30 to $35!.00 for the same size!. Oregon is also state controlled, WHY!? Will they always be state controlled!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
A guy named "Lefty" is mad about the State controlling something!? Oh the irony! I'm joking of course, just had to point that out!.!.!.

Anyway - what you have to do is look at how your State is using the money and what fees/taxes do the higher liquor prices supplant!? What I mean is, for example, here in Wisconsin, we have State income tax, but Minnesota doesn't!. However, it's twice as much to renew car license plates in MN versus WI, and so on!.!.!. It's a much more complex issue than can be solved on Yahoo Answers, however, calling your local, county and State gvmt legislators could be a good start!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
