What does 'from concentrate' mean when it comes to drink?!

Question: What does 'from concentrate' mean when it comes to drink!?
I'm drinking orange juice and it says 'from concentrate'!. Does that mean water has been added!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It means that the all the water has been removed from the oranges (or whatever) where the product is grown then shipped to the UK and water added back to the product to replace the original!.

It brings the costs down otherwise the cost of orange juice would be like £5 per litre instead of 70p or whatever - the product is then packaged in the UK and shipped to supermarkets!.

Is it as good for you as none concentrate - no but it is still one of the 5 a day!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Kerry K' and Anonymous A's answers are correct!.

For example OJ may (depending on where you live) come from a country far away!. For several reasons, one of which being transport costs, they remove the water in the country of origin, leaving concentrate --which takes up a lot less room than the original juice; if a human being consists for 60% of water, you can imagine how big a percentage of fruit juice is plain water! Hence the reduction of transport costs!.

This concentrate cooled down and shipped to the destination, where they add water again resulting in something that's actually drinkable!.

So you, as a consumer, do NOT have to add water as well!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

When the oranges left the grower, the juice was evaporated down to make it thick (and too sweet to drink) so it is easier and less expensive to ship (the water is over 65% of the juice) When it gets to the plant where it is bottled (or put in cartons) water is added back in to a drinking consistency and flavor so it is the same as it would have been had it not been concentrated in the area it was grown in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it means it is not pure orange juice!. The juice was concentrated, that means water taken out , so a pulp remained!. Then the concentrate was shipped, and water was added again t give it liquid form!.

Suppose it makes it cheaper to ship!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

kind of - it means that the juice originally had the water taken out (to concentrate it) for transport, then water was added to it again for packaging!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That means that it's a reduction from fresh OJ and then frozen!.
Much of the water was removed and you have to replace the water when you thaw it out!.( so the opposite)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It needs to be diluted!. The manufacturer removed water from the natural product, to increase output and minimise packaging!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

basically the drink your drinking was made from juice that had water removed from it!. you do not need to add water, they added water, and other stuff!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no, it means that excess water has been taken out!. i got a 'c' in food technology!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nope, it's like the syrup from the soda fountains, you will need to add water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It means that juice straight from the fruit has been added to other ingredients!. You still need to add water!

You do need to add water if it is from concentrate - maybe not always, but usually!. Check the directions if you are unsure!Www@FoodAQ@Com

No it means it is very strong and you need to add water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would say undiluted ,Www@FoodAQ@Com
