Tough question, as I have favorites from all the producing regions!.
Islay, Highlands, Speyside, etc!., all have different characteristics!.
For the big ballsy, iodine tinged whiskies of Islay, I love Laphroaig!.
For the Highland malts, my favorite for decades has been the Dalwhinnie (my Grandpap used to give me a tot on special evenings, so it holds a real memory for me - and it's a great dram)!. Speyside malt!? Well, that'd be the18-y/o MacAllan!.
I'm very much prejudiced toward single malt whisky, but there are
some credible blends out there!.
If you really want to push the boundaries, check out some of the
cask strength malts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
