Sugar is not included either by the way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yeast is a bacteria!.!.!.!.!.!.

Bacteria are found naturally in nature!.!.!.!.

Just about all fruits and grain contain a portion of "natural" sugars and thus WILL bond with the natural bacteria (yeast) and eventually ferment!.!.!.!.!.!.

The catch is, the fermentation process is also the process in which things become rotten (spoiled)!.!.!.

To control this process, brewers use a special kind of "friendly" yeast (bacteria) to make their product!.!.!.!. creating alcohol,!.!.!.!.!. a by-product of the yeast bacteria eating the sugars (yeast poop)!.!.!.

Hope this helped !!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Alcohol is a byproduct of yeast!. Period!.

Your instructions will either include yeast as an ingredient or something that already has yeast in it!. Sugar is what the yeast eat, but you can find sugar in many forms in tons of foods, so raw cane sugar isn't usually used!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

this sounds like a recipe that relies upon the natural occurring yeasts in the air!. they will settle in your mash and there are already sugars present in the mash from the barley!. this is how lambic beers are made!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some sort of sugar will be necessary, but if one or more of your ingredients are already sweetened you may not need to add extra!.

It may work, but how well will depend on the particular strains of yeast that are most naturally abundant in your area!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
