Generally, you can mix drinks, like a Vodka & Cranberry or a Vodka & OJ with cheaper vodka!. If you use the really good stuff, you're just wasting it!. Save the good Vodka for when you have a martini or have it on the rocks with a twist!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
In some cases there is, in some cases there isn't!. Like a lot of products, a more expensive product doesn't necessarily mean a better product!. But you do often get what you pay for!.
That website reviews three vodkas!. Clearly the more expensive Grey Goose is better; your question is, is it worth the added cost!? Maybe for some people who really enjoy martinis where the flavor of the vodka is everything!. I think that Taaka vodka, or whatever the heck it is that site is promoting, is an exception to the rule that cheap vodka tastes AWFUL!. And in almost every case, it does!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'll be one of the first to admit Grey Goose is overpriced, but I also can't possibly allow you to believe that website and use it as a basis for any rational discussion!.
Here's just a few of the problems I found with the blog:
1!.) Spelled "Absolut" as "Absolute" -- atleast know what you are reviewing
2!.) Was not a BLIND TASTE test!. Should have had the wife mix up these martinis!. also, should give the ratio of vermouth to vodka and should be prepared using measured amounts of both!. The glasses should simply be labelled 1,2,3 with the wife being the only one who knows what is what!. She should not be allowed to sample these or be present at testing so that the reviewer will not know what is what!. Should have atleast two more reviewers, each with their own set of drinks -- and each one with different numbers correlating to different things!. If they all choose #2 as the best, and #2 is not the same thing for everyone then we know that they were discussing based on number and that there is so little difference that people's opinion of favorite can be swayed by persuasive argument!.
3!.) The scores are arbitrary!. No way to know what an 88 corresponds to!. There should be a breakdown of the scores!. It should be clear what earns a score of 100!.
4!.) Lastly, the cheapest vodka did come out the worst!. You still get what you pay for!. The basic argument that is being presented here is that the expensive vodka is better, but the reviewer does not feel it worth the money!. This is a personal preference and cannot be evaluated methodically!. There would need to be a clear understanding of what it means to be twice as good as something, and this would not (in my mind) be a score of 162 vs 81, especially since the maximum is (presumably) 100!. By this logic, the cheapest vodka to score a 51 is by default the BEST possible value!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Absolutely there's a difference!. It does depend on the brand, but as I prefer to drink vodka straight or in very dry martinis, I can definitely taste the difference!. Something like Smirnoff or Absolut or supermarket brands taste harsh and not very pleasant!. However, 42 Below is lovely and smooth with a spicy edge!. I don't see the point, however, of paying for Grey Goose, Belvedere or any of the much higher priced ones when, in my humble opinion, 42 Below tastes far, far better and is £10 cheaper!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
There is a difference!. Have several drinks with really cheap vodka one night and you will probably have a severe headache ALL DAY the next day, if not worse!. Now I buy the mid-priced vodka!. I guess it depends on how much disposable income you have or how much you love vodka as to whether you would pay for the top dollar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I believe there is a difference to an extent!. A $6 bottle that comes in a plastic jug is not going to taste as good as some of the more refined ones such as Skyy or Ketel One!. That being said, I think if you're spending more than $25 on a bottle, all you're doing is showing off for your friends!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
why don't you taste the difference for your self, Grey Goose is the better one on the market, compare that with something less expensive!. and have fun doing so!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'VE PAID $350 GOOD VODKA
$800 VERY GOOD SCOTCH
$1,200 VERY EXCELLENT WINEWww@FoodAQ@Com

Um, yes!.
Although, I've heard that if you run crappy vodka through a pitcher filtration system (like Brita) that it really makes a difference as far as flavor is concerned!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
