Answers:
There are several options available for anyone wanting to quit:

Inpatient (rehab) programs- usually 28 days, medication detox (usually), full staff, emotional\cognitive restruturring (alcoholism isn't just a physiological problem)!. [20% success rate]

Outpatient programs- can be as long as the client wants!. once a week meetings!. ran by trained staff!. [30% after six months]

Medical detox centers- found in the behavioral units at hospitals!. clients check themselves in, and get detoxed on medications that will quell the withdrawal symptoms!. client can leave when they want!. [12% effective after three days]

Group meetins- AA, Al-Anon, etc!. good support network!. no detox, and isn't very effective if the person isn't committed to going to meetings!. [35% success after one year]

Cold Turkey- horrible way to get off alcohol, and its extremely dangerous!. alcoholics can have hallucinations and seizures if they have been using for long periods!. [<5% success]

Rx\self dicipation- alcoholics get on medicine that limits the cravings\slowly limit the amount of alcohol that they drink until they no longer drink!. [<7% success]

I would suggest one if I knew how much\how long the male in question has been drinking!. If its about statistics!.!.!. Rehab followed by four years outpatient with group meetings is about 95% effective at curing alcoholism!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They have to want it!. If they don't than AA wouldn't work!. The person has to be ready to quit!. A good detox center is a place to start!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

if it's not cold turkey it's anibuse, a court ordered pill that makes you sick with one sipWww@FoodAQ@Com

AA meetings!.!.!. duhWww@FoodAQ@Com
