Answers:
My husband will, lol, thinks it actually tastes better!. But don't go buy his taste buds, his mother (god rest her soul) cooked the hell out of everything and used a lot of bacon fat as a seasoning!.!.!.so, you get the picture here!.

I smell the cork, take a sip and if it's 'off' Hubby has to go and get another bottle!. I'm a bit of a wine snob, no boxed wines for me!. I can't help it, I was born with an overactive gag reflex!. I was also born 1/2 Scottish, so waste not, want not is my motto!.!.!.!.if the Liquor Store is closed and there's nothing else available, then yes, drink it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No wine is not to be drunk if it is bad but your question is lacking in detail!. If the wine is flawed or corked it should be tossed!.
If it is opened and let to oxidize after 2 days max then it should be tossed!.
If your cooking dont expect the dish you eat with to taste any better than the wine used!.
And if you looking to get a buzz don't drink wine!. Wine is a drink to be appreciated and enjoyed!. A buzz is fun but not the primary modivation in consuming wine!.

Try a hard acohol or one that comes in ready to drink single serving packages or box wine!. lasts forever!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Obviously, "bad" wine, could be a subjective thing, where you don't like it, but it's production was sound, and simply from bad grapes, received too much oak, etc!.

On the other hand, it could be corked (2,4,6 trichloro anisole (T!.C!.A!.), which can be fairly common, could have any other number of faulty compounds (Ethyl Acetate, Acetaldehyde, Diacetyl, etc)!. These are typically fault enough to consider a bottle "undrinkable" from the judges by way of scoring guidelines!.

That being said!.!. Whether or not it is undrinkable from a health perspective is another story!. Drinking a bottle of wine that's been out for 3 days, will not harm you, but do you want to drink an oxidized bottle of wine!? (most bottles are noticeably oxidized within a day, even if re-corked)!.

There should be little bacterial concern in a finished bottle of wine!. Keep in mind that many wines have been fermented in an open top barrel and then aged in wood for potentially 18-24 months (sometimes more)!.

Naturally during the fermentation process, and sometimes by additives, sulphites are produced, which helps kill undesireable strains of yeast and other bacteria!. (the more sulphites present increase the chance of a stable wine, but also have the undesireable consequence of having!.!. well, more sulphites)!.

Anyway, bottom line, is that it is extremely uncommon for a bottle to be bad from a health standpoint (not approaching an argument that alcohol is bad for you, that's a different subject)!.

So, if you can tolerate it, and feel that it would be a waste to poor it out, or don't want to return it, drink it!. If it's undrinkable to you, either toss it, return it, or!.!. you could cook with it, although most cooks will agree that if you don't like it enough to drink with it, then you probably won't want to cook with it!. If the reason you don't want to drink it, is due to oxidation, then it's less likely to have any concern with it being incorporated into your food and imparting a bad flavor!. In my experience, the effect of oxidation generally hasn't carried through to the finished product when cooking with a day or two old bottle of wine!. (I won't drink a bottle after the first night, unless i've put it under a blanket of argon)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no, because it can have bacteria in it!. To prolong the shelf value of red wine, refrigerate until you are drinking it again!. Just pull it out of the frige in time to bring it back to room temp!. This slows the growth of bacteria!. Usually a bottle is only good 2-3 days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It depends!. If the wine has only been open for a couple of days, it's not bad yet!. But, once it starts to resemble vinegar, you may as well just cook with it!. At least you'll get good flavor in your sauce, stew or soup!. Then it won't be such a waste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If a wine left open and is in contact with Air , it gets oxidized and is does not taste good!. Do not not drink such wine!. As many have said less chance that something contain alcohol can grow bacteria in it, but still the taste is bad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd like to say "eeww, don't do that", but when you're guilty, you're guilty!.!.!.

The other guy said it - cooking! Anywhere you can use wine or vinegar, you can use wine that's gone bad (red, I don't know if bad white wine is safe)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No!. And, if you recently bought it, take it back to the store with the receipt and the store should replace it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If it's closed then never!. If it's open for a long time it just gets more like vinegar!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, don't drink it!.
You can use it for cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Thats When It Becomes Cooking Wine :P
Never Waste it That way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I say!.!.!.screw it! If it's all you got then drink it! hahaWww@FoodAQ@Com
