Should a drinking ban be inforced?!

Question: Should a drinking ban be inforced!?
I live near a small town called lampeter where they are trying to impose a drinking ban in the town centre!. surely if they do this they are just shifting the problem to another area !. do u agree, even when the people drinking are simply just having a can of beer!. or should they be forced to drink else where,or arrested if they don't!. Why cant we adopt more of a european View on drinking in public places!? opinion welcomed ,maybe u have another solution to the problem which not only keeps the complainer happy but the drinker too, what is it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi,

We don't have a local problem here in rural Bedfordshire with "street-drinkers", they use the pubs!.

However in nearby Luton, there is a £50 fine for wandering around with an open tin or bottle of booze in town

I like a beer or three, but would not do so wandering about

So yes, I concur in that a penalty should be introduced nationally for idoits that walk around with a can in hand

But we would have to exempt family picnics, church do's, the local fair, etc!. etc!.

Tricky to enforce and legislate

The Europeans drink more responsibly than they do in Britain and they do not need to change their laws!. Drinking has now become a very antisocial pastime in Britain!. If it was possible I would like the stuff banned for good all over the country for at least 6 months just to let all the drinkers have a breather and reflect on what they are doing to themselves and to others whilst in stupor!. If you can't drink responsibly and behave then don't drink at allWww@FoodAQ@Com

If the pissquicks behaved like the young people in Europe then there'd be no problem!. Here in the UK they start fighting, swearing and puking in the street!.!.!.very unfair on residents!. Until they can learn to behave I agree with banning drink from the town centre!.!.!.!.what's wrong with a pub!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

So, people cannot purchase alcohol!? or they cannot drink in public!? because if they are banning public drinking because a lot of drunks hang out there, the drunks will just find another place to hang out and disturb the peace!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It should be banned, it causes alot of trouble!. Urinating in public, fighting, noise pollution, people being sick on the pavement - the list is endless!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've lived in europe and experienced the freedom of drinking which works very well!.

However here we have to allow for the British mentality when it comes to alcohol!. It is that which causes the problems!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think a ban is the answer because the kind of people who make a problem when drunk aren't the kind of people to pay much attention to a ban anyway!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The trouble is people are getting drunk so they had to bring in a drinking ban!.In my area it has been in force for about 10 years!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yea it worked so well in the past, they had to drop it!. so no!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Alcohol should be a luxury and not easily available at such low cost!. The cost of alcohol is cheaper than getting a Latte or a Cappuchino so is it a surprise that children as young as 10 are starting to drink!? It is not that difficult for children to buy cheap alcohol from supermarket as there are adults who encourages these children to start drinking and buys it for them!.

Is it a surprise then that binge drinking is the way forward for our young!? Everyday I hear teenagers/young adults around me bragging on about how they are going out to get pissed and drunk for their night out!. They would then regaled about how great their night were because they were so pissed drunk they do not even remember what they do or say!. And when they recounted their stories, it was with great pride and gutso that they have achieved drunkeness!.

Parents should also be made responsible for their children on drinking!.

Unfortunately many of the social ills that we are facing daily are not from drinking A can of beer but rather uncontrollable binge drinking which are the mentality of the younger generations!.

First and foremost, there should be more taxes on alcohol so that it becomes more expensive than it is now but still affordable for mature adults but out of reach for children and teenagers!.

When that happens, everyone will drink moderately as to how much their pocket can afford and learn to enjoy their drink rather than drowning it with shots!.

Secondly, more social/sport activities should be made available to teenagers/young adults especially in small towns so that they do not have the urge to drink themselves drunk because of boredom or simply nothing to do or just because everyone else is!.

Last but not least, drinking adults at home and at pubs should show good examples for the younger generation and perhaps minimum drink age should be increased to 21 years old or 25 years old!.

Drinking on the go/street should be discouraged however drinking in public events/fairs/picnics are ok!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
