Can you add Banana to Mead?!

Question: Can you add Banana to Mead!?
I'm making Mead, but I don't have anymore Apples, can I use Banana!?

I am a newbie at Mead brewing, I haven't used anything but Apple before, so I thought I would ask :) lolWww@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
If you do try bananas, use them for only a very small fraction of your mead!. Mead takes so long to become drinkable, it would be a shame to crap up a large part of the batch!.

If your separation problem is crystallization of the honey, just warm the honey gently as in warm water and you will have liquid honey again!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, you can add bananas to your Melomel, (Mead made with any fruit other than grapes, which is called Pyment, or apples, which is called Cyser, is called Melomel), however, since bananas do not make a very good wine alone, I would not think they would make a very good Melomel alone either!. Banana wine is good for blending with other, stronger flavored wines, but alone is rather thin and bland!. Maybe you could add some strawberries, blueberries or cherry juice to the mix; that should liven it up considerably!. Still, if you want to try making some then go ahead!. After all, you are making it for you, not me!. I couldn't find any recipes for banana Melomel, but here are some you might want to try:

No, bananas require a higher alcohol level before they can be used!. You can have banana flavoured Saki but I don't think mead would do it!. You can uses herbs, orange or lemon peel!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think so!. Maybe pears, but not bananas!. It's probably a texture thing, and the fact you get more juice from apples and pears than bananas
