The "Milli" in milliliter means 1,000 or in this case, one thousandth of a liter. There are 1000 ml in 1 l.

BTW, 1 millimeter is one thousandth of a meter. 1 centimeter is one hundredth of a meter. A meter is 39.36 inches long.

I believe a Foot was the length of King Henry's foot. A yard was made to be three feet, but it may have been the length between King Henry's nose and the tip of his outstreched arm.
