Or from this place or just find a USDA Prime cut from a local meat-cutter.

Shell Steak, or Strip Steak: When the tenderloin strip has been removed from the short loin, the remaining meat is known as a shell steak. Shell steaks are called by a variety of names, such as strip, New York strip and Kansas City strip. Ideal for one person, these steaks can be cut in any thickness you wish, usually from 1 to 2 1/2 inches. Some cutters often remove the bone for their customers so the steak can be easily sliced on the diagonal.

Tenderloin Steak or Filet Mignon: The popular name for this steak is filet mignon but be careful because few actually serve the "middle or mignon" cut of the loin. It nice but lacks flavor so you need to make a nice sauce to accompany it.

Best economical choice is Sirloin Steak.

Best Cut Overall
Rib Steak: This is similar in appearance to club steak and is sometimes sold as such, even though it is less tender and more fatty. Rib steaks have an excellent flavor and, of course, come from the rib section. This cut is often sold in kosher meat shops.

First, get to a butcher and get USDA Prime meat, not USDA Choice. Prime is the best quality you can get.
As for cut, I like a boneless shell steak, a porterhouse steak (which is both the shell and fillet separated by the "t" bone).

And whatever you do, don't overcook it.

Good luck and I wish I was your boyfriend.

I like fillet or NY strip. Go to a good butcher, or upscale grocer and ask for prime steak (hard to get, but worth it if you can find it).
Cooking technique is important as well, I prefer pan fried in mixture of olive oil and butter, and be careful not to over cook.
Serve a nice red wine with, Burgundy maybe, and wear that sexy dress!

Tender and flavorful don't usually go hand in hand in one steak, since fatty steaks are more flavorful, but less tender.
If you want tender, go for a filet, if you want flavor, go for a ribeye.

Ribeyes are good because they have a lot of fat marbled in them. You can get them at any butcher or local grocery store.

If you want a leaner cut New York Strips are good too.

My boyfriend likes only Porterhouse steak. from Stater bros.
