I have a grown daughter with an obvious pot and alchohol problem how can I get to her?!

Question: I have a grown daughter with an obvious pot and alchohol problem how can I get to her?
She admitted to eating one meal in the afternoon going out with friends drinking over hours but mixing them and them smoking alot of pot. She passed out and lost her sight. It came back but she didnt know where she was when she woke up and she couldnt see for quite awhile. I am begging her to seek help. She claims smoking pot is not an issue. I think it ruins lives. How do I get her to want to help herself?

Answers:

You can't, my daughter is 25 with the same problem. Tell her that you love her, and you don't want to go to her funeral and ask her to love herself enough to tone it down. Many of the marijuana strains are tainted with other drugs that were not present in our day. They can cause temporary or permanent blindness, passing out, car accidents, and death. If she drinks, she must eat. If she smokes it cannot be to that extreme. Once they are past age 21 they are on their own. It's a tough call that is why they call it tough love. If she needs rehab to wake up you sending her there will only cause more resistance. It has got to come from her. Life must be taken in moderation.... that is the key. Tell her you would like her to be around to see your grandchildren. Don't let the friends you don't approve of in your house but don't turn her away. A dad.

Same problem, different solution.

Over-consumption of alcohol is probably going to ruin her more than smoking pot is. However smoking pot can eventually lead to the use of other drugs if she is constantly "wasted." Try to see if you can get her into a treatment program. If she lost her sight, I can guarantee you it's not alcohol/pot alone, she either has blood sugar issues or other drug issues you're not aware of.

Well to answer your question, How do I get her to want to help herself? There is one way only. She needs to hit rock bottom. If you want to help her you can enable her and try to pump her full of drugs. By doing this hopefully she will get really ill, wont like what happened and want to stop.

Also she is definitely on more then just pot and alcohol.

I did drugs for many years, believe me when I say this is the only plausible way for you to help her stop. If you dont wish to give that a try all you can do is jsut sit back and let it run its course.

If she is an adult, there is nothing you can do for her but pray for her, be there for her and do not enable her behavior.
No one can "make" someone want to seek help. She has to want to.
