Why does vodka affect me so differently than beer affects me?!

Question: Why does vodka affect me so differently than beer affects me?
I can have many beers without feeling a thing, but last weekend I had about 3 shots of vodka and I was completely wasted. I could barely stand for 2 hours. What's up with that? I thought the different affects of alcohol were all urban legends, and that alcohol was alcohol, no matter the type?

80 proof, Liquor is quicker....

Alcohol is alcohol. The difference is that Vodka contains about 30% more of it than beer.

Vodka is a lot stronger than beer, 1 shot is more than a can of beer.

Vodka is a much denser type of alcohol so it affects you faster. Beer is mostly water.
