can i ferment homemade wine in oak barrels?!


Question: Can i ferment homemade wine in oak barrels?
is it ok to ferment my wine in oak barrels or are they just used for maturing the wine??

Absolutely, also you can add chips of wood (oak for example) to it during fermentation to donate flavor and texture...
You can choose to age it there too if it red... I add a link you might like

You should be able to ferment the wine in the barrel itself as long as it allows the gasses to escape and not build up into the barrel.
